Mid-week iOS releases: Fort Boyard, Punch Quest, Hairy Tales, and more

Welcome back to Pocket Gamer's round-up of the latest iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad mid-week releases.

As you all probably know by now, we produce this round-up piece each week because otherwise we'd be here until Sunday writing up individual articles on every new game that hits the App Store.

Anyway, these games have recently hit Apple's New Zealand outlet, meaning they should be available to download in the UK and US from around midnight this evening.

The excitement is palpable.

Remember Fort Boyard? Y'know, that TV show that wished it was The Crystal Maze. If you do, you'll be pleased (maybe) to read that it's been transformed into an iPhone and iPad app.

In this app, you create a team of six adventurers and assault the famous fort across two game modes: Adventure, which is identical to the TV series; and Quick Games, which features 24 mini-games.

Punch Quest is a new action-packed side-scrolling brawler that's packed full of monsters, dinosaurs, and, erm, "really fancy" hats.

This punch-'em-up features multiple path choices and plenty of opportunities to biff people in the face.

Your aim in this twin-stick shooter is to rip through waves and waves of zombies using 20 powerful weapons. There's a twist, though.

You're aim isn't survival. Your aim is to shoot 11 successful zombie-filled Hollywood movies. Additional movies will be introduced in free updates.

According to its App Store description, Wizardlings is a "casual tap adventure" role-playing game. In it, you have to defeat a strange dark force and return light to the mystical kingdom of Skywind.

Across the game's 56 gorgeous landscapes, you'll encounter dozens of different enemies. Defeat them, and you'll get your mitts on tons of glittering treasure and powerful spells.

In this third instalment of Penny Arcade's On The Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness series, you step into the shoes of Tycho Ephemerous Brahe, who is a scholar of Apocalyptic Studies-turned-detective.

This app contains the same version of the game that was released on both Steam and Xbox Live, as well its Lair of the Seamstress and Fan-fiction DLC packs.

Totem Runner is an action-packed endless-runner with a twist. Basically, the game's protagonist can transform himself into various shapes, humans, and animals in order to overcome obstacles.

By turning into a vicious boar, for example, he can charge straight through enemies, whereas transforming into an eagle allows him to fly past traps and other hazards.

In Hairy Tales, you're tasked with helping a gang of idiotic folk spirits save their tile-based world from corruption across 72 levels.

In these levels, you are tasked with re-arranging the tiles in order to destroy evil enemy Kikimoras, grab power-ups, and defeat bosses.

Deep War is set in a post-apocalyptic world that - along with most of the human civilisation - has been destroyed by huge meteorites.
