Mid-week iOS releases: Wonderputt, Isaac Newton's Gravity 2, Fieldrunners 2 HD, and more
Newbies
Welcome back to Pocket Gamer's round-up of the latest iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad mid-week releases.
As you all probably know by now, we produce this article each week because we're simply too busy to bring you a story on every single new game that hits the App Store. Beer doesn't drink itself, you know.
Anyway, these games have recently hit Apple's New Zealand outlet, meaning they should be available to download in the UK and US from around midnight this evening.
The excitement is palpable.
iPhone Rail RushBy Miniclip - buy for iPhone
Rail Rush is another of those Temple Run-style games that tasks you with swiping your device's screen in order to avoid obstacles and hazards; collect treasures; and generally stay alive.
You can equip your cart with various power-ups that should help to extend your journey.
iPad WonderputtBy Damp Gnat - buy for iPhone
Put(t) simply, Wonderputt may be the best-looking game of golf you'll ever see on a mobile device. It's gorgeous. Just gorgeous.
Gameplay-wise, you'll be working your way through 18 holes, while avoiding cows, toads, ski slopes, torpedoes, and alien UFOs that are looking for abductees.
Check out our preview for more information.
By Subatomic Studios - buy for iPhone and iPad
If you didn't grab Fieldrunners 2 when it first hit the App Store a few weeks ago because you were holding out for an iPad version, your wait is over: the HD edition of this tower defence title is now available to download on Apple's tablet.
You all know the drill. Your mission here is to defend your base against waves of attacking baddies by building plenty of upgradable towers.
UniversalSoldier vs Aliens
By Bulkypix - download free for iPhone and iPad
You're the last man standing. A lone soldier. And you're up against swarms of bloodthirsty alien baddies that just want to rip your head off. Hey, we've all been there. I call it 'Friday'.
Across this game's 50 levels, you'll be asked to complete a variety of missions, which include protecting scientists, clearing areas, and killing the infamous queen.
Cosmic BumpBy Chillingo - buy for iPhone and iPad
Everybody knows that the correct way to refuel a downed UFO is to fire its alien drivers out of cannons at fuel cells that are scattered across multiple environments.
Each of these environments, which are spread across six unique chapters, is filled with puzzles that you'll need to overcome if you wish to nab a three-star rating and progress.
Isaac Newton's Gravity 2By Namco - download free for iPhone and iPad
Isaac Newton's Gravity was one of the first games I purchased from the App Store. If, like I, you've craved a sequel for many years, you'll be glad to know it's finally here.
Your aim in this physics-based puzzler is to press the red button in each stage. It sounds like an easy task, but it often involves constructing complex chain reactions using pipes, magnets, and trampolines.
