6 Kid Icarus: Uprising AR battle cards to be bundled in with copies of the game

Details of Kid Icarus: Uprising's augmented reality battle cards for 3DS were revealed yesterday in the latest edition of the Nintendo Direct online broadcast.

Kid Icarus: Uprising's director Masahiro Sakurai appeared on the show to talk about these battle cards, which - when used in conjunction with the 3DS's augmented reality system - bring the game's characters to life. And to fight.

Six random cards will come bundled with copies of Kid Icarus: Uprising on 3DS, and Nintendo has announced the methods by which you will be able to add more cards to your collection.

Selected retailers will be offering packs of 24 AR cards as a pre-order bonus for Kid Icarus: Uprising, while Club Nintendo members will be able to purchase double packs of six cards online for 250 Stars.

There's no word on how many cards will be floating around in total, but rare cards will, of course, be hidden in certain packs.

Sakurai also revealed new StreetPass and SpotPass features for Kid Icarus: Uprising that will allow you to share power gems to craft more powerful weapons or exchange them for hearts (the in-game currency). New weapons will be sent to your 3DS daily via SpotPass.

Nintendo recently announced that Kid Icarus: Uprising would come bundled with a portable 3DS stand, and that it would support the Circle Pad Pro attachment.
