Build and share your own levels in retro platformer BlockHopper for iPhone
Building better worlds
Indie dev Green Pixel's maiden iPhone game BlockHopper aims to combine retro platforming and DIY level creation with a healthy dose of community spirit.
In BlockHopper, you control Bit, an endearing robot with the power to summon a variety of different power blocks.
You can use these blocks to build bridges, shield Bit from danger, and generally assist in getting your mechanical buddy from A to B in one piece.
Over the game's 35 levels, you will utilise objects like springboards and conveyor belts to negotiate the terrain, as well as flick a few gate switches here and there.
Block partyWhat sets this platforming proposition apart from most games in the genre is the inclusion of a level editor, which allows you to construct your own stages and share your creations via the cloud.
If trawling through 1,000 recreations of Spring Hill Zone Act 1 sounds rather off-putting, though, the developer has added a bunch of filters that will help you sort the wheat from the chaff, and locate your favourite uploaders with ease.
You can download BlockHopper from the App Store for £1.49 / $1.99 now.
