Mid-week iOS releases: To-Fu 2, Machinarium, Grand Prix Story, Snood Free, Running Sheep HD, Race Illegal: High Speed 3D, NFL Rivals, and more

Welcome back to Pocket Gamer's round-up of the latest and greatest mid-week iPhone and iPad releases.

Those of you who regularly check out this round-up will know that we simply don't have the time to bring you a story for every single new title that hits the App Store.

This week sees the arrival of the follow-up to acclaimed iOS puzzler To-Fu: The Trials of Chi, Kairosoft's Grand Prix Story, the iPad 2-only puzzler Machinarium, and another couple of titles from publisher Chillingo.

All of the games mentioned below have just hit the New Zealand App Store, meaning you can grab them in the UK and US from around midnight tonight.

Don't bother getting dressed for work / school: Kairosoft has released its latest highly addictive iPhone title Grand Prix Story.

The game sees you become the manager of an up-and-coming race team, meaning it's your job to hire and fire drivers, find profitable sponsorship deals, and research the latest high-tech racing equipment.

Award-winning Mac / PC indie title King of Dragon Pass has hit the App Store, complete with a reworked UI, over 24 new scenes, new treasures, and a selection of Game Center achievements.

A combination of interactive stories and resource management, King of Dragon Pass unfolds in the fictional kingdom of Glorantha (the home of both RuneQuest and HeroQuest).

Chillingo's Gum Drop! tasks you with matching a series of words and objects before a swaying stack of delicious gumdrops reaches the top of your screen.

iPad Helmet Hero HD

Helmet Hero sees you firing little heroes across five environments, in order to rescue a bunch of helpless captives known as the Gizzles.

You'll need “timing, precision, and skill” if you hope to progress through the game's 50 levels.

Running Sheep HD takes place shortly after the alien abduction of several white and fluffy farmyard animals.

Your job is to steer the stolen sheep out of the clutches of their alien abductors, by placing arrows on platforms to direct them towards teleports.

You do this over 61 dynamic levels, while avoiding numerous obstacles and three angry bosses.

Machinarium is a point-and-click adventure title that tasks you with controlling a robot called Josef, as he struggles to prevent the destruction of a city's towers.

Successfully completing your mission involves the solving of various puzzles and brainteasers in a game that contains no written or spoken dialogue.

A two-tier hint system and a sketched walkthrough are both on hand if all else fails.

To-Fu 2

To-Fu 2, as you've probably already worked out, is the sequel to popular iOS puzzler To-Fu: The Trials of Chi.

You'll be pleased to read that this new adventure comes jam-packed with 100 brand-new “brain-bending” levels, a variety of new obstacles, several new challenges, and extravagant costumes to purchase.

A new Time Trial mode tasks you with collecting as much Chi as you possibly can before you run out of time.

Gun Fu challenges you to the “ultimate test of skill and reflex”, as you attempt to slay relentless waves of enemies and climb global rankings.

OpenFeint and Game Center are both on board for achievements and leaderboards.

Chillingo's Race Illegal: High Speed 3D offers “high-octane, adrenaline-pumping” street racing, as you speed, drift, dodge, ram, and race your way to supremacy.

You can spend your winnings on new upgrades, optimisations, and custom paint jobs, before slamming down the accelerator and jumping into five different race modes.
