O2 delays UK Xperia Play launch

Blames “bugs in the software”

O2 delays UK Xperia Play launch

Those hoping to get their hands on Sony’s Xperia Play handset soon in the UK on the O2 network are in for a disappointment, as the operator has revealed it will be pushing back the release date beyond April 1st.

According to the O2 blog, the delay is down to “bugs in the software” found while testing the machines.

Sony Ericsson responded to these comments by saying that the machine will still be launching on April 1st, “across all UK mobile operator partners except for O2”, suggesting that it's an isolated issue with the carrier’s extra software rather than the Xperia’s utilisation of Android.
