Cut the Rope wins Gaming BAFTA for Best Handheld game
First iOS title to win at the awards
Cut the Rope won the Gaming BAFTA for Best Handheld Game at tonight's awards ceremony held in London.
The awards, run by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, are an annual showcase to recognise gaming excellence in a variety of disciplines - the gaming equivalent of the popular film awards hosted by the same organisation.
Cut the Rope was the only iOS title nominated in the category, with DS and PSP big-hitters Professor Layton and the Lost Future, Sonic Colours, Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4, Super Scribblenauts, and God of War: Ghost of Sparta all vying for the same title.
It also marks the first time an iOS game has won an award at the show, now in its seventh year.
