In a Q&A with IGN, Nintendo of America has confirmed a number of details about the Nintendo 3DS audio and connectivity features.

Nintendo revealed there will also be no limit on the size of the SD card that can be used with the 3DS, so custom soundtracks could be a possibility. The company added that while it was possible to play your own music while playing, the implementation was entirely at the discretion of the developer.

The online features of the 3DS were also discussed, and Nintendo reiterated that the e-Shop will be released as part of a worldwide system update that will also activate the ability to transfer DSi games to the 3DS and the new web browser. Nintendo did not reveal any details about the browser but said that more information would be revealed closer to launch.

On the subject of text and voice chat with friends, Nintendo declined to announce anything, but IGN has also reported that Pokemon Black/White will retain voice chat functionality even when played on the 3DS. This news suggests that such functionality will eventually be possible. Nintendo also confirmed that the 3DS will support multiplayer for standard DS games and players will be able to play with others who are using standard DS systems. IGN
