Specs leaked for Samsung Galaxy Tab 2
Put it on the Tab
Some specifications have been leaked for the forthcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, including the promise of a 3D display and a dual-core processor.
This info is far from official, but it does give us an idea of what Samsung might be aiming for.
Specification speculationThe device is expected to boast 64GB of internal storage and to use the Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, running dual cores at 1GHz.
According to the leak, the Galaxy Tab 2 will run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, which will be upgradable to the tablet-focused Android 3.0 Honeycomb. This update will apparently be necessary in order to enable the 3D display.
The screen will be a similar size to the original Tab's seven-incher, but will be a more-advanced Super AMOLED model running at a 2048x1200 resolution.
Expect a wealth of iPhone-combating extras, too, including a barometer, compass, accelerometer and gyroscope.
Also rumoured is an eight-megapixel camera capable of capturing HD video at 1080p, complimented by a dual LED flash and a three-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls. There's also to be a side-mounted USB port and a microSD card slot.
Of course, these are only rumours. But it will be interesting to see which - if any - of these features make it to the final build, which is expected to debut at February's Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona.
