Developer SNK Playmore has given gamers a lot over the years; ridiculously huge cartridges, furious arcade action, and one of the most under-rated handhelds of all time, the Neo Geo Pocket.

It’s been twenty years since the Neo Geo MVS, SNK's first console, was launched, and the company is celebrating by releasing updated versions of its most memorable titles onto the PSP’s Playstation Network.

SNK promise to add a versus or co-operative mode to each game, as well “a variety of other features both hardcore fans and a new generation of Neo Geo gamers will be sure to appreciate”

Fatal Fury and Metal Slug are out on the 12th of December, with seven other titles released in January of next year.

These are Alpha Mission II, The King of Fighters ’94, Samurai Shodown, Baseball Stars Professional, Magician Lord, League Bowling and Super Sidekicks.

Fortunately the games aren’t quite as expensive as your regular MVS cartridge, and are priced at $6.99 each (which roughly translates as £4.42 or €5.22).

Let’s just hope that this news means the next announcement SNK make about portable re-releases involves a certain 3DS Virtual Handheld and the Neo Geo Pocket back catalogue…
