White iPhone 4 spotted in Apple Store app update
Unicorns DO exist
The last official word from Apple on its long-awaited (in my eyes, anyway) white iPhone 4 came way back in July when The Big A announced it wouldn’t be available until ‘later this year’.
With only two months remaining in 2010 – give or take a few days – and no sign of the reclusive mobile at either the iPod unveiling in September or the Back to the Mac event last week, we wondered whether we’d actually see the albino iPhone before Christmas.
Manufacturing issues ranging from colour flaking to light bleeds have been cited as the main causes of the delay, though with speculation rife that a Verizon iPhone could be on its way in America, maybe Apple wants to kill two birds with one handset.
Whatever, perhaps the wait for iPhone blanc will soon be over, since an overnight update to the Cupertino-based crew’s Apple Store app now allows US punters to reserve 16GB / 32GB white iPhone 4s from $199. Or, at least, it almost does.
Rather tantalisingly, nothing of any significance actually happens upon tapping the reservation button, but it does suggest the hitherto unicorn iPhone 4 may be imminent.
For folks outside the USA, where the Apple Store app is exclusively available, a pic of the teaser option in all its glory is up there to your right.
