Glu apologises for Escape from NOM gaff, offers free game

If you were one of the unfortunate chumps who stumped up for Escape from NOM when it was released onto the App Store the other day, only to see it going for free a few hours later, you’re in luck.

While you won’t be getting a refund for your wasted £1.79 / $2.99 / €2.39, the publisher has apologised for the blunder and offered a free Glu game of any value to anyone affected.

“The game was in fact supposed to launch free and we apologize to the customers that paid for the game," said Glu PR manager Kathy de Leon.

She goes on to explain the peace offering in more detail: "We would like to make it up to them by giving them a promocode to any Glu iPhone/iPod touch game of their choice regardless of price that is currently available on the App Store. Since we cannot contact the people who purchased it directly, we will need them to email us at [email protected] and have them send us their iTunes receipt in return for a promocode."

We think it’s pretty good of Glu to ‘fess up on this. Still, if you’re the vindictive sort, you might want to go for Deer Hunter: African Safari at £3.99 / $6.99 / €5.49.
