Earlier this week, we dropped the bombshell that portable piracy costs the games industry upwards of £30 billion, thanks to an investigation by Japanese research group CESA.

Now, the association has released more detailed stats showing off exactly which DS and PSP titles are the most popular in the seedy black market underbelly of the internet.

On PSP, popular Square Enix brawler Dissidia: Final Fantasy, which pits members of the venerable RPG series against each other, led the charge with five million illegal downloads. The number is a little chilling when the game only managed to sell just over a million legitimate UMDs.

Other top pirated PSP games include games in the Phantasy Star, Dynasty Warriors, Monster Hunter and Gundam series, as well as Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII.

As for DS, the story is far more positive. Pokemon Diamond, Pearl and Platinum topped the chart with over 5 million downloads combined, but the actual game has sold a rather crazy 17 million copies.

Mario is, obviously, a popular one to pirate with his karting, party throwing, and platforming games high on the list. Dragon Quest and the Pokemon Gold and Silver remakes are up there too.

Both Sony and Nintendo have plans to help combat piracy in their upcoming portable machines.
