New details on the battle system laid out in iPhone-exclusive Chaos Rings have been revealed today by producer Takehiro Ando.

The developer dished on the turn-based mechanics on the game's Facebook page, explaining the purpose of having two characters in your party and the difference between individual and paired attacks.

"The 'Solo' you attack with one person, and only the one attacked will be hit from the enemy. The 'Pair' you attack with two, and you will damage the enemy more than 'Solo' but both of the two will be hit."

Ando points out that magical attacks and special abilities are cast by selecting "Genes" from the battle menu. These are separate, naturally from standard attacks.

Other options during combat include using items or taking up a defencive stance. Use of strategy is important, Ando stresses, in order to emerge victorious from the toughest scenarios.

While Square Enix hasn't announced a release date for Chaos Rings, Ando insists that it's coming soon. "I guess I can deliver the game to you much faster than I expected..."

Chaos Rings will be available for iPhone and iPod touch soon at an undisclosed price.
