Apple puts the App Store in your web browser

iTunes previews replace the iTunes loading window

Apple puts the App Store in your web browser

If you've ever followed one of our App Store links at the bottom of game news and reviews, you'll be very familiar with the old "One Moment Please. Connecting to the iTunes Store" loading pages.

This morning we loaded a game or two and found that Apple has replaced that empty loading page with a full App Store listing preview of the application in question.

The link is still sent through to the irksome resource-devouring iTunes, but you can now view the same listing inside your web browser.

Hopefully this is the beginnings of a web-based iTunes alternative (yeah, that's a long shot, but we can dream), which will allow you to fully browse, click, and buy your games and apps without having to carry the otherwise dead weight of iTunes around on your computer.

Hit this link to check out what the new preview pages look like.

Spanner Spencer
Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
