We were quite intrigued the other day to hear about Pixel Mine's new dungeon crawling epic for the iPhone, called Underworlds, which has already gone live over on App Store.

It's a good old fashioned fantasy fighter, very much in the style of Diablo (a huge plus point to retro heads out there) in which you take on the job of protecting a town beseiged by all manner of demonic nasties.

Being played from an isometric perspective does rise the usual iPhone stumbling block of onscreen D-pads, though Underworlds offers an interesting alternative.

The game also allows for a point-and-click interface. Touching the screen sends your character off movng to that point automatially, which could prove useful in the heat of battle.

We've been discussing the resurgene of the dungeon crawler game over on the revamped Pocket gamer forum, so fans of this forgotten genre should stop by for a flagon of mead and a chat.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
