We all love the iPhone, don’t we? Well, those of us who can afford it. Or are on O2. And provided you can get your head (not to mention fingers) around texting and emailing on the touchscreen. Still, iPhone gaming has taken over the world, hasn’t it?

Not in the UK, it seems.

CasualGaming.biz has revealed that the number of UK iPhone users to have downloaded a game sits at a fairly modest 336,921. To put that into context, 1,075,973 bog standard mobile users have downloaded a game at some point, while even the number of smartphone users to have done so in the UK has reached 565,157.

So where has the buzz around iPhone gaming come from? Well, in purely statistical terms, the article reveals that the figure represents a whopping 18.6 per cent of all UK based iPhone users, while the percentage of mobile and smartphone users who have downloaded a game sits at a measly 2.7 per cent and 5.6 per cent respectively.

So for Apple it really does seem to be a simple case of shifting more handsets in order to sell more games. Looks like it does hold an enviable position in the mobile gaming industry, after all.
