DSi gets Nintendo’s biggest handheld marketing campaign ever
The big Christmas sales push begins. In April
Nintendo’s president Satoru Iwata failed to provide any good reasons for a DSi upgrade during his GDC speech last week, but it’s looking as though the Big N’s megalithic marketing machine is about to rectify his oversight.
The company’s hardware launch campaign is about to kick the DSi into the public eye.
“DSi will be our biggest handheld hardware launch to date and will easily be our biggest campaign this year,” DSi senior product manager James Honeywell MCV. “We have already planned out activity throughout the whole year as we plan to drive awareness and communication right through to Christmas.”
The DS hardware upgrade comes out this week on Friday April 3rd, and apparently pre-orders have been pretty good. In store campaigns have undoubtedly helped in that respect, though as Jon discovered last week, GAME says you can keep your phat DS - it doesn't want them back.
