Lorne Lanning, president of game studio Oddworld Inhabitants and creator of the Oddworld series, has confirmed to GamesIndustry.biz that the studio is working on a new Oddworld game.

Following the release of 2005's excellent Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath on Xbox, Lorne Lanning and his team have turned their attentions to the movie industry and are known to currently be working on Citizen Siege - a title conceived as both a game and a CG movie.

Now it seems the same is happening with a new Oddworld title as Maxis co-founder Jeff Braun, who confirmed during a university lecture last week that he was working with Lanning's studio on a new Oddworld game, has said the title will use development tools able to create content suitable for both film and games.

Sadly, neither Lanning nor Braun have spoken in any more depth about the title or hinted at which formats it will appear on. Clearly its high-end production would suggest a current-gen console game, but we can hope for at least a PSP version. After all, if Sony can deliver LittleBigPlanet on the handheld (which it seems like it might be doing), anything is possible.
