One of the notable things about the main ad-funded mobile game portals is that the big publishers aren't involved: it's all smaller developers and publishers.

However, US firm Greystripe says it's winning over the bigger firms, and has just signed up Hands-On Mobile to prove it. The company will be distributing free versions of seven games through Greystripe's GameJump portal, with adverts shown in the loading screens to fund it.

The games are: Lego Bricks, World Poker Tour: 7 Card Stud, True Crime: Streets of LA, Call of Duty 2, Top Gun: Air Combat, Pro Bowling, and Sudoku Garden.

Interestingly, they're all older games rather than Hands-On's brand new titles, which might show the way forward for larger publishers and ad-funded gaming: using it as a way to make more money out of a company's back catalogue without harming sales of its new stuff.

Watch this space to see who else follows Hands-On's example in the coming months.
