Sony has just announced that its PSP camera peripheral Go!Cam is to be released across Europe on May 16th and can be yours for a very reasonable £35 (or EUR 50 for anyone on the Continent).

The unit boasts a built-in microphone to ensure smooth audio recording, the ability to change the direction of the camera lens vertically by 180 degrees, and Go!Edit, an editing software package that enables users to save and tinker with photos, video and audio clips.

Based on a 4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo, expect Go!Cam to capture 2.5 hours of video recording and snap more than 40,000 images.

"Go!Cam is fantastic news for all those PSP owners looking for something new, fun and creative," said Stephane Hareau, PSP marketing manager at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, doubtless posing for the camera. "With summer around the corner and the ability to turn your PSP into a mini camcorder and capture all the best moments in your life, this is yet another reason to get a PSP and to take advantage of truly portable entertainment."

Amen to that. Particularly when you consider the PSP itself drops its price this Friday.

Expect a Go!Cam review once we've managed to get our hands on one.
