Rovio signs up for GameJump mobile games portal

Plus eleven other new content providers for Greystripe's ad-funded service

Rovio signs up for GameJump mobile games portal

Ad-funded mobile games firm Greystripe has announced 12 new developers and publishers for its GameJump portal, which offers games for free, supported by adverts inserted into the loading screens.

The biggest name in the dozen is Finnish developer Rovio, which will be adding its Darkest Fear and Paid To Kill games to GameJump. We loved Darkest Fear 3, so a free version is a bargain.

United Fun Traders has also signed up, with games including Blind Fury, Kamikaze and Mr Revolver. Other partners include Gear Games (Wasteland: Phase One), Hazmat Games (Pegasus Lost), Theoretic Labs (Mitosis), DS Effects, Inlogic, LuBlu, Radarspot, TrantorGames and QiOO, as well as eBook-provider Wattpad.

There's still no sign of the biggest mobile games publishers like EA Mobile, Gameloft and Glu Mobile.

However, ad-funded games are clearly picking up strength among smaller developers and publishers, which may encourage gamers to try games for free that they might not otherwise find on the mobile operator portals.
