DS and Game Boy get MP3 playback
Listen to your tunes on the move for 20 quid
Microsoft's got its Zune, Sony's got its PSP, and Apple it goes without saying has its you-know-what-pod; Nintendo was obviously feeling left out when it came to listening to music on the move.
Roll on the official Nintendo MP3 Player.
Hardly rocket science, the kit uses the SD memory card standard - you'll have to provide your own SD card but a 512 MB one, which will hold around 150 tracks only costs about £10 - and an adaptor that fits into any slot for a Game Boy cartridge. Hence the Nintendo MP3 Player will work across Nintendo's range of portables, from DS to GBA, GBA SP and Game Boy Micro.
Of course, you'll have to transfer the MP3 files onto the card from your PC, which will require buying a SD card reader if you haven't already got one. But once it's safely in the slot, the easy-to use-software displays song title information, and will also provide shuffle and other playback options, as well as skins based on Nintendo characters.
Primed for release on Friday 8th December, the Nintendo MP3 Player will cost around £20.
