Angry Birds Movie slated for a January 2027 release date
Get ready to fly

- The Angry Birds are returning to the silver screen
- But you'll be waiting until 2027 to see them arrive
- The film will see stars like Josh Gad reprise their roles and new cast members such as Keke Palmer
The announcement that the Angry Birds were returning to the silver screen was met with a near-universal reaction of, "Oh, that's cool." Alright, sarcasm aside, while few expected much from the first mobile release to bet big on movies, the Angry Birds left many folks pleasantly surprised.
So it's not shocking that many are interested to see what a third instalment in the series will bring. But unfortunately, if you were expecting to see it anytime soon, you'll be disappointed (for now) as currently Angry Birds 3 is slated for a January 29th 2027 release.
It's not exactly uncommon for animated films to take a while to create. Spiderverse fans, for example, have had to endure many years of uncertainty, culminating in the news that the final instalment in that trilogy would also be coming to us in the far-off year of 2027.

I've no doubt that Rovio being acquired by Sega was at least partially responsible for the titular irate avians making a return to theatres. That and the thriving community the series still has. After all, Sega themselves managed to snag a hit in the form of their Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, something they've been capitalising on with the upcoming Sonic Rumble and its film-themed skins.
It's especially notable that big-name actors such as Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Rachel Bloom and Danny McBridge will return too, as many have found career-defining roles since first appearing. And with other fresh appearances like surreal comedian Tim Robinson and multitalented actress and Nope star Keke Palmer.
With the recent 15th anniversary of Angry Birds taking place too, maybe now is the time to dive in and take a gander at what the Creative Officer for the franchise Ben Mattes had to say about the anniversary.
