Though that may be the case, Zombie Typomanic HD is here to prove that there's nothing more effective than a QWERTY keyboard when it comes to slaughtering the undead.
Clearly inspired by Sega's ingenious House of the Dead tie-in Typing of the Dead, this mobile conversion of GameYawp's Facebook game invites you to kill zombies by hammering out words on your iPad's virtual keyboard.
To drop a zombie where he stands, you must quickly type the word that is floating above the advancing deadite's head. Enter the word correctly, and your on-screen avatar will unleash fatally hot flying lead in that zombie's direction.
The same text-entry technique works for every aspect of Zombie Typomaniac HD: from healing to picking up weapon drops. Type, and ye shall receive.
Though we'd love to recommend you play the offical mobile version of Typing the Dead (known as Flick of the Dead on iOS), Sega only released the game in Japan.
So, unless the Sonic creator has a change of heart, it looks like Zombie Typomaniac HD is the closest would-be text assassins are going to get to the real deal.
