Yukar From The Abyss, a brand new paranormal-themed otome game, launches onto iOS very soon

A brand new mythical otome game is making its way to our pocket devices under the name of Yukar From The Abyss. This new dating simulation visual novel will take you on a wild journey within the role of a girl who traverses to the underworld after suddenly dying, where she then will attempt to find a companion within the afterlife.

If you aren’t familiar, otome games are a decently sized market within mobile gaming, but one that rarely sees entries that frequent. They all revolve around putting you in the shoes of, typically, a young woman who is wooed or must woo various bachelor options through visual novel gameplay, where you must make the correct choices to end up with the character you desire. Think Mystic Messenger or even Obey Me!! and you’re not too far off the mark.

In fact, I’d venture to say Yukar From The Abyss has a decent amount in common with Obey Me. Both deal with roguishly handsome demon boys who want nothing but to be in your arms, and both also deal with themes of the underworld and death and the like. Though, I’d venture to say Yukar From The Abyss is a little more nuanced and less funny, aiming to tell a relatively serious love story.

There will be branching paths, of course, that can lead you to uncover more and more about the world as you progress through each one. For the full picture, you’ll have to romance each of the characters available and experience their full story, which will then add context to other bits of other stories. It’s a lovely little interwoven novel-esque experience that fans of the genre will likely dig.

So if you’re interested, you can give it a shot when it launches on August 23rd by downloading it on the App Store below. Currently, there’s no word on an Android release, but I’d bet we’ll see one sooner than later.
