According to TUAW, the recent Games Developers Conference has thrown up some interesting new details on the charity rhythm game WINtA.

The game is published by OneBigGame, a nonprofit company that recruits the best industry talent to develop titles and pass on the profits on to charities around the world.

WINtA, which stands for “War Is Not the Answer”, is the brainchild of PaRappa the Rappa creator Masaya Matsuura.

Its gameplay looks somewhat similar to Elite Beat Agents for the Nintendo DS, but the focus this time is tapping boxes along to the lyrics of a song, rather than the music itself.

The game will be free, with songs purchased as DLC.

You’ll be able to fully customise the game, with a skin creator and a full in-game music editor planned for the iPad version. The picture above shows some of the possibilities for custom graphics.

The game will launch first on iPhone, though, without these extra touches. It should be available by winter.

OneBigGame has big plans for iOS in the future, too, mentioning a game called Minesweeper Adventure, which promises to breathe life into the classic desktop time-waster.

There are also plans for a nonprofit racing game from Dave Perry of Earthworm Jim fame.
