Sticky platformer Wimp: Who Stole My Panties splats onto iOS

We've been looking forward to Flexile Studio's Wimp ever since we saw the game's first screenshots. See: here it is in our list of anticipated September games. We weren't lying.

Now, the game is on the App Store and it's definitely deserving of our early praise. This sticky, stodgy physics-platformer is wonderfully well made, packed with content, and bursting with smart ideas.

You play as Wimp, a tiny green alien who moves about in a sticky ball of gelatinous goo. This blob helps him shunt heavy boxes, stick to moving platforms, and solve other physics-led puzzles. He gains new abilities as the game goes on, too.

He'll need those powers as he traipses through 50 gorgeous levels on the hunt for his pilfered underwear. There are also boss fights along the way.

It has traditional virtual controls, but they work rather well with Wimp's mushy, flexible gloop. Plus, the controls are completely customisable from the options menu.

You can download the game now. There's a slightly confusing pricing model in place, however.

To explain: there's a 69p / 99c Universal version available for iPhone, iPod touch, and the first-generation iPad. If you've got a more recent iPad and want the fancy graphics, though, get Wimp HD for £1.49 / $1.99.

Finally, there's a free 15-level trial for iPad.
