LoL: Wild Rift Thresh guide: Best build, items, runes

Thresh is the Chain Warden, a warden once tasked with keeping secrets later engulfed by a greater power, which turned him into a merciless tormentor of souls. Thresh was once the keeper of Senna's soul, who miraculously escaped thanks to Lucians countless efforts to bring her back. That's just part of Thresh's interesting lore though.

Other than a character with a great story, he is also a truly wonderful support character, able to inflict crowd control and reposition his allies with the help of his Lantern. He is not exactly easy to play,  but with enough practice, he's one of the few supports that can be viable no matter the meta and the matchup.

In this League of Legends: Wild Rift Thresh guide you'll find everything you need to know about the champion, from his skills and how to allocate them to his build, skill combo, and runes. This is what you will find in the Thresh guide below:

Tresh skills in Wild Rift

League of Legends: Wild Rift Thresh's skills

Damnation (Passive)

Thresh can harvest the souls of enemies that die near him, permanently granting him Armor and Ability Power.

Death Sentence (Skill 1)

Thresh binds an enemy in chains and pulls them toward him. Activating this ability a second time pulls Thresh to the enemy.

Dark Passage (Skill 2)

Throws a Lantern to a target location. If an ally collects it Thresh will pull the ally to him.

Flay (Skill 3)

Thresh's attacks wind up, dealing more damage the longer he waits between attacks. When activated, Thresh sweeps his chain, knocking all enemies hit in the direction of the blow.

The Box (Skill 4 / Ultimate)

Casts a prison of 5 walls that slow and deal damage to enemies that pass through it.

How to combo as Thresh in Wild Rift

Thresh has quite a lot of combos, but many of them are extremely difficult to pull off since they're not only dependant on you casting them, but also on the ally to whom you throw the Lantern. Therefore, Thresh is not the ideal beginner champion, but rather a more advanced support that requires quite a bit of practice beforehand.

Here are some of the basic combos you can pull as thresh:

- Skill 1 -> Skill 3 (backwards)

This is the main combo you'll have as Thresh - it's pretty straightforward, and all you need to do is hook the opponent and pull them back towards you with Flay.

- Flash -> Skill 3 (backwards) -> Skill 1

This is yet another similar combo, but it is a little bit more flashy. You need to use Flash to close the gap between you and the opponent, then use Flay towards you to impair the movement speed of the enemy, and then quickly follow up with Skill 1 before they get away.

Here are some advanced tips (consider yourself warned, they will require some practice):

- Flash -> Skill 1 -> Skill 2 (towards your ally) -> Skill 1 (the second cast that lets you go to the enemy) -> Skill 3 (backwards) -> Skill 4 (Ultimate)

This rather big combo is in fact quite simple. You will start with the simple combo mentioned above (the one with Flash) but you'll also add your Skill 2 - the Lantern to reposition your ally and help them close the gap between themselves and the enemy.

This combo is great if you pull it off from a bush or over a wall with an unexpecting enemy.

- Remember that you can hook enemies and monsters over the wall and jump to them

This is often overlooked, but it's extremely useful in some situations. For instance, you can hook a monster from above the wall and then quickly get to them. The same works with enemies.

- Always remember to trade with auto attacks

Thresh has empowered Auto-attacks, and they work wonders in lane for trading.

Wild Rift Thresh - In what order to level up the skills?

For Thresh, this is the order in which you want to level up the skills:

  • Level 1: Skill 1
  • Level 2: Skill 3
  • Level 3: Skill 2
  • Level 4: Skill 1
  • Level 5: Skill 4
  • Level 6: Skill 1
  • Level 7: Skill 1

Keep leveling Skill 1 until it's maxed, then focus on Skill 3, and lastly on Skill 2. Don't forget to keep adding 1 point into your Skill 4 (ultimate) whenever possible.
