LoL: Wild Rift Jayce Champion Guide: Best build, items, and everything you need to know

Jayce, the Defender of Tomorrow, is the next Wild Rift champion we'll discuss - he's one of the main characters from Arcane, the Netflix show, and as many have guessed, he's equally powerful in the game. In Wild Rift, Jayce is a Fighter, similar to Darius and Wukong, but on top of his normal "Fighter" kit, he also has ranged skills.

The reason why Jayce is such a powerful and beloved character is pretty simple - he can fit into any role, be it of a damage dealer or engaging champion. That means you aren't very tanky, so you will need a rather tanky jungler/support to be able to rock him in the Baron lane.

In this League of Legends: Wild Rift Jayce guide you'll find everything you need to know about the champion, from his skills and how to allocate them to his build, skill combo, and runes. Here is what you will find in the Jayce guide below:

How to combo as Jayce

Jayce is unlike any other champion released so far. He has his Ultimate available at level 1, allowing him to access two different skills at level 1. That gives him a major advantage and the potential to win most trades 1v1.

Another point is that he doesn't exactly have an "ultimate" skill, which can be cast to make miracles happen. Instead, Jayce has 6 skills and a switch (ultimate) which can be cast in smart combos in order to all-in an enemy after poking it down, or simply standing from afar and acting as a pseudo-marksman.

Most of Jayce's skills are situational, but here are a couple of simple combos that are key to making his kit work:

In Cannon form:

- Skill 3 -> Skill 1 to cast an empowered orb that can deal massive damage with the Lethality build
- Swap to Cannon -> use 3 auto-attacks and then cast Skill 2 for another burst of attack speed
- Use the Acceleration Gate to speed up your team or yourself depending on the situation

In Hammer form:

- Skill 2 -> Skill 1 -> Skill 3 to jump on an enemy with the Lightning Field (for additional damage and Mana sustain) and then knock them up with Skill 3. This works wonders against enemies that don't expect it and squishy targets.

Other gameplay tips for Jayce

  • Remember that each time you swap weapons, Jayce gains additional movement speed for a brief period.
  • Try to combo both ranged and melee attacks in order to take full advantage of his Passive Skill and Ultimate Passive.
  • Always try to take short trades with Jayce, since you don't want to be caught off-guard, and especially not without Mana.

In what order to level up the skills?

For Jayce, you want to max your Skill 1 first, then continue by levelling Skill 3, and finally Skill 2.  Just keep one single point in Skill 3.

  • Level 1: Skill 1
  • Level 2: Skill 3
  • Level 3: Skill 2
  • Level 4: Skill 1
  • Level 5: Skill 1
  • Level 6: Skill 2
  • Level 7: Skill 2
