Where Winds Meet's Hexi expansion's second chapter launches today
Way out West
- The second part of Where Winds Meet's Hexi expansion is now here
- Explore the snow-capped peaks around Liangzhou, take on new bosses and join an additional sect
- Wield the new Heng Blade with the first-of-its-kind counter-attack and parrying mechanics
The excitement of Where Winds Meet is set to expand significantly today, as chapter two of the long-awaited Hexi expansion launches on all platforms! And if you thought all of China was merely bamboo forests, sweeping mountains and wide plains, then the land of Hexi is set to prove you wrong.
History enthusiasts will already recognise the region as being key to the start of the Silk Road. But Hexi was also more broadly seen as a frontier region, which is exactly what the newly added Liangzhou region is all about. Snow-capped peaks replace open deserts from the previous region alongside fortified frontier towns.
Of course, one of the bigger additions here is the Heng Blade, a historically important item and one that's emblematic of the Tang dynasty. The Heng Blade introduces new systems for actively parrying, deflecting and countering attacks, which is a dramatic change from the more defensive parrying systems available thus far.

Sword Saint
Naturally, there's also a new sect that you can join in the form of the militarily focused Raging Tides. Meanwhile, new bosses will challenge your prowess in Where Winds Meet as the Moongazing Maiden, Everdeer and the new Town Gate Roar that occupies the conflict-strewn Dasan pass.I can personally see the Heng Blade being quite the favourite amongst fans. I've never been a big fan of the 'wait-and-see' style of play, as it feels a little too passive. Conversely, this more active counter-attack style tickles the Batman: Arkham Asylum-shaped hole in my brain that has been thus far left empty. So it's well worth digging in to check this out!
