Wheels of Aurelia to be delisted from the App Store despite still working fine

Apple’s outdated policy strikes again

Wheels of Aurelia to be delisted from the App Store despite still working fine
  • Wheels of Aurelia will be delisted from the App Store on July 25th
  • The game is fully functional but it hasn’t been updated in a while
  • It is free to download for a limited time

Wheels of Aurelia is going off the App Store, and unfortunately, it’s for good. The award-winning interactive visual novel from Santa Ragione will be delisted on July 25th, following Apple’s decision to remove the app under its obsolete or outdated policy. The developers aren’t going quietly though.

Creators of Wheels of Aurelia, Santa Ragione released a statement earlier this week, expressing frustration over Apple’s lack of clear justification for the delisting. They say the game remains fully functional and compliant with current technical requirements. The issue is that it simply hasn’t been updated recently.

The team argues this policy disregards the artistic value of self-contained games, especially narrative-driven ones that don’t need constant patches or content additions. Think of it like delisting a book for not having a new edition. This enforcement of unnecessary updates is particularly difficult for small studios as it creates financial strain and diverts resources from new ideas.

If you’ve never played Wheels of Aurelia, now’s the time. It’s free to download for the next few days given the circumstances. While our review only gave it 3 out of 5 stars, it’s still worth a look for fans of branching narrative adventures.

Set in 1970s Italy, the story follows Lella on a road trip through the political unrest and personal mysteries of the era. Every journey offers new conversations and outcomes, with 16 different endings tied to your choices.

It may not be a perfect experience, but it speaks volumes about the fragility of games as art in a market driven by policies built for products, not creative works. Grab it while you still can.
