Voodoo Detective, a 2D point-and-click adventure that uses industry veterans' talents behind the scenes, is coming to mobile in 2022

Short Sleeve Studios has announced a new 2D point-and-click adventure game titled Voodoo Detective, promising lots of "hoodoo and whodunit" when it lands on mobile and PC in 2022. An indie love letter to the genre, it features stunning hand-drawn artwork, fully voiced dialogue, and a live soundtrack that adds to the charm of the game.

In Voodoo Detective, players will follow the tale of the titular detective who aims to solve cases and make ends meet at the same time, all set in the small island town of New Ginen. The rich Voodoo culture of the land mixes with the chain stores and tourist spots, and at the centre of it all is a mysterious woman who will set the game's protagonist on his course.

While details on the game are sparse at the moment, the teaser trailer embedded above does give us a little sneak peek at the stellar animation and the gorgeous artwork for the main protagonist. We can also already tell how high-quality and professional the voice acting will be, especially given that the voice director is Darragh O’Farrell of The Curse of Monkey Island fame.

Other industry veterans include sound designer Julian Kwasneski (Sam & Max, The Curse of Monkey Island), animator John MacFarlane (The Iron Giant, The Simpsons), and composer Peter McConnell (Psychonauts 2, Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge). With that amount of talent on board, it does seem like it's shaping up to be one heck of an adventure.
