Uncharted: The Lost Legacy - 5 mobile alternatives

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is out this week, bringing another slice of hotly anticipated, highly cinematic third person action-platforming to consoles.

But not, alas, to mobile. The mainline Uncharted series is exclusive to Sony consoles, so while we've seen a decent portable version in Uncharted: Golden Abyss for the PS Vita, we've never seen such a thing on a smartphone.

Never mind. For now, here are some mobile games that capture that Uncharted spirit for you to play while your PS4-owning mates sink their teeth into Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.

Uncharted: Fortune Hunter

There is actually and Uncharted game on mobile, and while it doesn't subscribe to the mainline series, it is a pretty decent spinoff.

Uncharted: Fortune Hunter takes the Lara Croft GO approach to console spinoffs - that is, it's a very accomplished adventure-puzzler. Dodge traps, solve puzzles, and hoover up loot as everyone's favourite Indiana Jones wannabe.

Traps n' Gemstones

If you fancy desecrating some ancient tombs and performing death-defying leaps to acquire valuable loot, Traps n' Gemstones is the perfect game.

It's Indiana Jones-aping hero has more in common with Nathan Drake than Uncharted: The Lost Legacy's badass duo, but the illicit plundering theme remains familiar. Plus, Traps n' Gemstones is just a really good Metroidvania-style platformer.

Tomb Raider

The game series Uncharted has always been compared with most heavily is Tomb Raider. Initially inspired by Lara Croft's early adventures, the Uncharted games then proceeded in turn to heavily influence the subsequent Tomb Raider reboot, creating a neat circle.

It's perhaps apt, then, that we include the mobile Tomb Raider port in this list - particularly given Uncharted: The Lost Legacy's strong female leads. Be warned, though - Lara's clunky control system hasn't aged well, and you probably shouldn't play this without an MFi controller.

Space Marshals 2

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy players are getting a potent mixture of stealth, action and exploration set to an exciting romp of a storyline. On mobile, that's precisely what Space Marshals 2 delivers.

Okay, so it's a twin-stick shooter with a sci-fi setting. In that sense Space Marshals 2 is completely different. But we defy fans of one to say they don't enjoy the other.

Eisenhorn: Xenos

As you've no doubt gathered by now, the App Store isn't exactly overflowing with quality third person action games. Here's a rare example from not too long ago.

Eisenhorn: Xenos is a rich and stunning Unreal Engine-powered third person adventure, and it's marked out by its slick console-like action. Again, it's sci-fi setting bears little resemblance to Uncharted, so see the first three entries if that bothers you.
