The 80s were arguably the heyday of popular cartoons-turned-franchises. He-Man, GI Joe and, of course, Transformers. With plenty of films and television shows under their belt, it seems only natural that the shape-changing robots from Cybertron will once more make their way to mobile with the upcoming Transformers: Eternal War.
With pre-registration now open, Transformers: Eternal War is a character-collecting RPG featuring the classic designs of the Transformers cast, both Decepticon and Autobot alike. You'll be able to collect your favourite characters as they battle a new threat on Earth in the form of the Chaos Legion, all penned by Simon Furman, the famous British comic writer widely credited with establishing the universe as we know it.

Just the fact that I've seen people complaining about Transformers: Eternal War still taking place on Earth shows that many players are massively enthusiastic about the franchise. And while Transformers: Eternal War doesn't seem to offer much that stands out from the crowd in gameplay terms, I've no doubt seeing classic characters will return will be a major selling point.I was actually a big Transformers fan back in the day, even before the first movie was released. And believe me, I was pleased to see that Jazz (my favourite character when I was a kid) is one of the pre-registration rewards, alongside Bumblebee.
Transformers: Eternal War is obviously trying to capitalise on the eighties throwback nostalgia that's still quite popular. For more modern fans, I can see this being a bit off-putting; however, it may be worth seeing how Wanda Cinema Games' efforts turn out when Transformers: Eternal War launches later this year.
