Final Fantasy rhythm-action spin-off to make sweet music on 3DS

Theatrhythm. Theatrhythm. Trips off the tongue like the name of a Welsh village, but that's what Square Enix has gone with for the title of its latest Final Fantasy spin-off.

The latest issue of Jump magazine has the scoop, describing Theatrhythm Final Fantasy as a 'Theater Rhythm Action' game. The title adopts old-school side-view battle scenes but with chibi characters apparently reminiscent of those in Kingdom Hearts Mobile.

The action is controlled by tapping the screen in time with the music, which has apparently been snaffled from older FF titles.

The game also features several characters from Final Fantasy's rich history, with the likes of Lightning and Cloud endeavouring to return light to a magical crystal of some sort.

No launch date has yet been announced, though as a Final Fantasy title, it seems a western release is more than likely.
