The Pillar is an upcoming puzzle escape game that's heading for iOS on January 13th. It comes from developer Paper Bunker and previously released on Steam back in June this year where it has received mostly positive reviews, though that is only from 14 users.

The Pillar takes place in a faraway place that's made up of several islands where you'll have to solve a variety of puzzles to earn your freedom. It will mix exploration with the various conundrums you'll face throughout the game as you examine your surroundings to find your way out.

Each island promises its own unique feel alongside a plethora of secrets to uncover. The puzzles themselves will require you to keep an eye on your surroundings as they may change the layout of the levels or opening up new rooms that will lead to new brainteasers to solve after completing them.

It's essentially an ever-changing labyrinth then and with each puzzle you solve, there will be more mysteries to uncover and challenges to face. It's a lovely looking game that makes use of a low poly aesthetic.

Naturally, its move over to mobile from PC has meant the controls have needed tweaking. Paper Bunker say that it will make use of intuitive virtual dual joysticks. Given that it's a fairly laid back, puzzler experience I imagine these will work quite well since a massive amount of precision isn't required.

The Pillar is available to pre-order now over on the App Store ahead of its expected release on 13th January. It will be a premium title that costs $4.99.
