You'll use the power of maths to defeat monsters in cutesy iOS game The Counting Kingdom
By the numbers
Drop your swords.
You'll only need the power of sorcery, addition, and subtraction to beat back the monsters in The Counting Kingdom.
I'm not normally a sucker for educational games for 7-year-old children, but the cutesy art style and tactical tile-based gameplay of The Counting Kingdom have got my attention.
As the Apprentice here, you're given numbers to reach. How? By connecting adjacent tiles of monsters in succession. The monsters that make up your sum are then defeated.
So, if, for example, you have a '15', you can put two '1s', a '6', a '4', and a '3' together by connecting them with your finger.
It seems as though you'll be able to throw the occasional potion into your equations, too.
With a "-2" potion, you'll be able to take '2' away from your sum. This should hopefully enable you to make the number you need.
Given it's primarily for kids, The Counting Kingdom shouldn't be too challenging for anyone with a decent appreciation of maths. But, hey, it looks cute.
The Counting Kingdom will be available on iOS and PC in late spring.
