In what realm of fantasy are spikes scared of balloons?

This is the main question that the new teaser for The Balloons has me asking.

We know nothing about this game other than that it is made by HyperBeard (who made Muertitos) and will be published by Noodlecake Games.

You can watch the teaser for yourself but it won't tell you much.
It is kinda cute how the little spikes scream as this giant, inflated kissy face slowly towers over them.

But will we be trying to pop these balloons or trying to avoid them being popped? Gah, we just don't know.

Hopefully some answers will turn up on the game's website soon.
