An increasingly popular gaming concept that's translated very nicely from the traditional little pieces of Far Eastern hard wood, tangrams have seen a fair few pocket gaming conversions recently. The latest incarnation (the esoterically titled Tangrams) is aimed at the iPhone, and features some typical, yet time-honoured gameplay centred on arranging seven geometric shapes into a given silhouette.

The advantage of playing tangrams on a games platform, rather than physical pieces, is the convenience of selecting the next challenge (also, the pieces don't slide off your knee on the bus and disappear under the seat into that sticky nastiness that permeates public transport). The all new iPhone Tangrams boasts an impressive 400 puzzles featuring hints and tips for when frustration kicks in.

As casual as they come and as addictive as crack cappuccino, this modern take on the ancient puzzle game looks decidedly intriguing, so hit 'Track It!' now to stay informed as Pocket Gamer explores further.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
