SWAT’s up, Doc?
The elite police unit gets all the glamour and all the headlines – and now it gets a mobile phone game, too

When things get scary, you call the police. When things for the police get scary, they call in a SWAT team (well, the American police do, anyway). Standing for Special Weapons and Tactics, the SWAT team is brought out for the hardcore jobs such as rescuing hostages and dealing with terrorists and, from this August, you’ll be able to experience the action courtesy of Sierra Entertainment’s SWAT Force. There’s no word yet concerning the style of play (the PC game it’s based on was a first-person affair with you controlling a squad of SWAT troopers) but we’ve been assured that the emphasis will be placed squarely on tactics. The game will, however, feature seven missions, each of which will be based on “authentic crisis situations”, says Sierra. The game will be distributed by Wonderphone, which also handles other Sierra titles including Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon. Keep an eye on Pocket Gamer for more news as and when we sniff it out.
