[Update] Super Hexagon lands hard on iPhone and iPad
VVVVVV difficult (Updated: Game is back on the App Store)
Do you like having your backside handed to you on a regular basis? Do you yearn for nauseatingly psychedelic light shows and pounding electronica?
If your answer to all of these is 'yes' - and why would it be anything else? - then you might be interested to learn that Super Hexagon is now out for iPhone and iPad.
It's the first iOS offering from Terry Cavanagh, the developer behind cult indie game hit (and PG Gold Award winner) VVVVVV.
Our own Mark Brown took Super Hexagon for a spin a couple of weeks ago and discovered it was "one of those games that will grip you" and also "mock you for not even being able to beat the most easy mode".
Dodge 'emThe premise, as ever with these retro-inspired games, is simple. You control a little craft in constant orbit around a hexagonal sun. You must dodge left and right to avoid the barriers that get sucked toward you.
It's an assault on the eyes and ears, with vector-inspired graphics and a pumping techno soundtrack. And you will die, frequently.
The price for this sadomasochistic experience? 69p / 99c.
