Fancy roasting some spiders from Mars?

HandyGames newie will make David Bowie's backing band a bit nervous

Fancy roasting some spiders from Mars?

Is there life on Mars? Sadly, if there is, it probably doesn't look like Gene Hunt from the BBC series of the same name – although that doesn't stop us hoping that Martians spend their time wearing big sideburns and nifty '70s threads, while throwing each other over car bonnets in a politically incorrect fashion. We can dream.

Killjoy scientists will tell you that the chances of Martians being at all insect-shaped is almost as unlikely. But don't mind them: what's the point of the Red Planet if it's not teeming with six and eight-legged freaks keen for some human-flaying action?

That, at least, is the premise for HandyGames' new mobile game, Sturmtrupp Mars – Operation Roasted Bugs. It's a real-time strategy game, and the only thing HandyGames has revealed about it other than that is that its plot is: 'mankind fights alien bugs on planet Mars'.

They don't say if you play the men or the bugs – the latter would be more fun in our opinion. It's looking good though, and from the screenshots we deduce there might be some building as well as bug-shooting.

While we hunt more information down, check out the game's trailer here.
