Street Fighter II: Champion Edition goes mobile

Get in celebratory mood for Capcom beat-'em-up's 20th anniversary

Street Fighter II: Champion Edition goes mobile

Okay, so the Street Fighter franchise isn't 20 until next year, but Capcom is getting its party hat on early with the release of Street Fighter II: Champion Edition this September.

It's apparently an accurate conversion of the original arcade game, complete with 12 playable characters, including Ryu, Ken and Chun-Li, but also bosses Sagat, M Bison, Balrog and Vega.

Will it play well on a phone, though, seeing as the gameplay revolves so much around fast reactions and button combos? Capcom says it will.

We weren't entirely convinced when the basic Street Fighter II came to mobile last year, but it sounds like the new Champion Edition could rekindle our teenage fervour for spinning bird kicks and hadouken fireballs.
