Prepare to charge rampant with bullets in Metal Slug-inspired iPhone shooter Star Marine

Fancy some senseless run and gun action for the New Year?

Well, that's what Canadian developer GlitchSoft is promising with its iPhone shooter Star Marine: Infinite Ammo.

Said to be inspired by games such as Contra, Rapid Reload and Metal Slug, you play Arc, a battle-hardened drifter with no set course.

"Untamable, unforgiving, and unstoppable, he will bring apocalypse to the evil race in a fiery charge rampant with bullets and explosions."

Bang, bang

The description sounds exciting so we hope the gameplay - which features dual stick controls with a single button to activate Arc's propulsion pack - will match up.

And sounding a little like Halfbrick's Jetpack Joyride, the pack enables you to hover, hang, climb, jump and dash through the 30 Game Center achievements, overcoming 10 bosses as you go.

There are three modes, character upgrades and seven weapons to equip.

Star Marine: Infinite Ammo has been approved by Apple so should go live any day now.
