Project Zero/Fatal Frame team working on new title for 3DS
You've been framed
Tecmo Koei, the Japanese development team behind home console horror hit Project Zero (known as Fatal Frame in the US and Zero in Japan), has begun work on a new title for the 3DS.
The game’s title was revealed in Japanese magazine (and gaming bible) Famitsu as Shinrei Shashin (Spirit Photo).
The game will come with an AR Notebook item, which is used throughout the game. This isn’t dissimilar to the Level-5 and Studio Ghibli-developed Japanese RPG Ni No Kuni for DS, which came packaged with a separate hard-backed book of spells in Japan.
The Story mode of the game pits you and an ethereal female companion against the mysteries of a purple diary - the same book you'll use in real life as you play the game.
There hasn’t exactly been a glut of adequate horror games on handheld devices, so perhaps Spirit Photo can find a niche. Be warned, though: if this game is anything like its spiritual predecessor it’ll have you squealing like a terminal banshee in fear.
