Hands on with Spin & Win on mobile

Is I-play's new gambler wheely good?

Let's get straight to it, shall we? Spin & Win, I-play's new fun-money gambling game, is based around a wheel which you, yes, spin to get random coloured icons.

Okay, it's a little deeper than that. The icons lead to seven casino mini-games, including a slot machine, dice rolling, and simple memory-based affairs. It's inspired by one of I-play's parent company Oberon Media's casual web games, you see.

It's certainly simple to get started: you just hit the '5' key to spin the wheel, setting the speed using a power bar. You get 20 spins, although you can win extra ones along the way to boost your score even further.

The mini-games are very simple indeed and, if we're honest, not particularly diverting. But they're better seen as micro-games, since they only last for a few seconds each.

The appeal of Spin & Win is about the sum of these parts, though â€" seeing your score mount as you progress through your 20 spins. It sounds a bit rubbish when you describe it, but is actually pretty addictive when you play it.

We think I-play is pushing it with its promise of "realistic casino-like graphics", however. Granted, the game doesn't look dreadful by any means, but the graphics are purely functional.

From past experience, Spin & Win could be the kind of game that ends up getting played whenever we have a spare five minutes on the train. But it's also possible that it'll lack the depth to keep us coming back.

Click 'Track It!' for the definitive verdict when we review it though.
