Space Miner to get freemium spin-off Space Miner Blast

Top class iPhone adventure Space Miner: Space Ore Bust is getting a freemium spin-off, which extracts the game’s core shooter gameplay and dishes it up for zilch.

Called Space Miner Blast, the game loses all the RPG elements and the comedic storyline, and simply retains its asteroid and enemy blasting gameplay, resulting in an endless, wave based shooter.

You can still upgrade your ship, but it's streamlined for mid-combat customisation instead of stat-comparison tinkering. The controls and look of the game will be very reminiscent of the original Space Miner.

So how will Venan make cash? The game will support Apple’s new iAds advertising system (though you won’t see any banners during the game itself), and you can also shell out for special spaceships, with the added bonus of nuking ads upon purchase.

The game is planned to hit both iPhone and iPad by the end of July.
