Eco-friendly Skyrise Runner jumps and punches its way onto Android

Fans of endless runner games like Temple Run or Canabalt have a new game to download: Ilusis Interactive Graphics's latest release for Android, Skyrise Runner Free.

Droidgamers reports that Skyrise Runner is free to play (hence the name), although it does predictably feature in-app purchases of power-ups for those who are too impatient to earn them through gameplay.

Set in a game world similar to Avatar’s Pandora, you play as a blue purple forest-dwelling humanoid mystic named Ciellu who is on a quest to stop lumberjacks from chopping down the trees of his native environment.

Do the running man

In many ways, Skyrise Runner plays more like a traditional platformer than an endless runner, as players have the ability to straight-arm lumberjacks and leap over pits in their quest to collect gems.

More familiar elements from Temple Run surface in Skyrise Runner's main menu. "Missions" stand in for achievements and the "Equip" feature allows players to cash in gems for power-ups.

There are some elements where Skyrise Runner breaks from the pack, however, such as sections in which Ciellu transforms into a gigantic bird and flies through the trees to continue his quest.

Skyrise Runner is available now for free on Google Play [download]
