Fight guns with bigger guns in stylish upcoming shooter Sky Patrol

The promise from Beartrap Games is that its upcoming strategic shooter Sky Patrol won't be easy.

The skies will be rough.

Sky Patrol involves escorting a convoy over dangerous territory. The enemies line up across the ground below, and will also invade the sky. The clear and colourful 3D graphics help you to distinguish each layer of action.

There's no steering to be done on your part, by the way. Instead, you tap to send bullets, and you slide to guide rockets at your foe.

In the trailer embedded below, the dev boasts that Sky Patrol is a "fast-paced" experience. As you will soon gather after clicking on the 'play' button, though, that isn't a reference to the vertical scrolling speed.

This isn't a game about speed and evasive manoeuvres, you see. It's about outgunning multiple targets. Shoot before they do so that your convoy doesn't take any damage. That's where the pace is found.

While your best defence will be a strong offence, you will be able to select some defensive options that you can employ when necessary.

Beartrap says that Sky Patrol is the first of a series of planned games set inside the same universe.

As for this maiden entry, well, you can expect it to go live on Windows Phone in summer 2014. iOS and Android versions will follow along shortly after.
